Our story begun 40 years ago, when electrician Allan Grout started Grouts Electrical Pty Ltd.
A small scale family business, Allan completed service and maintenance jobs across Gippsland, with a growing portfolio of construction projects and a few service stations. Grouts quickly become a name synonymous with high quality electrical work in the Latrobe Valley area.
Business was steady for decades, and in 2006 Allan passed the business onto his son John, an astute electrician is his own right. For several years Grouts Electrical Pty Ltd continued to operate in a similar fashion with a single a tradesperson, an apprentice, and part time administrator Sharlene Sexton — an integral member of the team ever since.
Although we were delivering high quality outcomes at a local level, we had an appetite for greater opportunities. So, in 2010 we bought into the Platinum Electricians franchise — granting us a strong business foundation and competitive advantage, almost overnight. Grouts Electrical Pty Ltd became Platinum Electricians: Gippsland.
Over the next 10 years, our Gippsland franchise saw more and more success, were completing bigger and bigger projects, and were awarded Franchise of the Year three times — the only franchise to win the coveted award more than once. We continued to expand by acquiring the Port Melbourne franchise, and quickly grew to over 30 employees across the two locations.
In 2023, after a decade of experience honing our skills in the business world and consistently delivering high quality projects with immaculate service — we were equipped to begin our own journey. Iridium EC was born.
